There is a drawing every Friday starting May 29th and continuing in June, July & August!

The proceeds of the “In It to Win It”Summer CalendarRaffle will support the Independent Living programs and advocacy efforts that hipcil provides to the community.
The names of winning ticket holders will be posted every Friday on our website (www.hipcil.org) by 3 p.m. Winners will also be notified by mail.

On May 22, 1995, I began my journey with Heightened Independence and Progress Center for Independent Living (HIPCIL) as a Hispanic Outreach Worker. At that time, I could not have imagined the path ahead or the lasting impact this organization would have on my life and the many individuals we serve in our community.
Throughout the years, I have had the privilege of serving in a variety of roles at HIPCIL. Each experience strengthened my understanding of leadership, compassion, advocacy, and the power of community. These opportunities have shaped my professional growth and deepened my respect and commitment to our mission.
In October 2024, I was honored to step into the role of Chief Executive Officer. Leading an organization that has meant so much to me for decades is both humbling and deeply meaningful.
I am incredibly proud of the progress HIPCIL continues to make. What truly sets our organization apart is not only the services we provide but the people who make this work possible. I extend my sincere gratitude to our dedicated staff, supportive colleagues, community partners, board members, and—most importantly—the individuals we are privileged to serve. Your trust, resilience, and partnership inspire me every day.
Together, we have built a strong foundation rooted in independence, empowerment, inclusion, and dignity. As we look ahead, I remain committed to strengthening our mission and ensuring that every person we serve has the opportunity to live independently and achieve their full potential.
Thank you for being part of this journey and for your continued belief in the work we do at HIPCIL. I look forward to continuing this important work alongside each of you.
With gratitude,
Marily Gonzalez-Rodriguez Chief Executive Officer Heightened Independence and Progress Center for Independent Living (HIPCIL)
Please be advised that as of April 1, 2026, Heightened Independence & Progress will no longer be partnering with the Bergen Performing Arts Center (bergenPAC).
This decision was not taken lightly. However, due to recent employee turnover, we no longer have the necessary capacity to continue our partnership. After careful consideration, we determined that discontinuing the program is the most responsible course of action to ensure the quality and integrity of our services.
We sincerely appreciate the opportunity to have collaborated with the Bergen Performing Arts Center and are especially grateful for the meaningful opportunities they helped provide to individuals with disabilities throughout Bergen County.
If you have any questions regarding this transition, please feel free to contact our office at 201-996-9100 or at mgonzalez@hipcil.org.
As we come to the close of another year, I want to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude to each and every one of you. This year has been one of growth, resilience, and meaningful progress, and none of it would have been possible without your continued support and partnership.
At Heightened Independence and Progress (HIPCIL), our mission to empower individuals with disabilities to live independent, self-directed lives remains at the heart of everything we do. Serving the communities of Bergen and Hudson Counties, we are proud of the impact we have made together—advocating for accessibility, providing vital services, and supporting individuals in achieving their personal goals.
This year’s successes are a direct result of the dedication of our staff, the trust of the individuals we serve, the commitment of our partners, and the generosity of our supporters. Your belief in our mission strengthens our work and inspires us to continue advancing independence, dignity, and inclusion for all.
As we look ahead to the New Year, we remain energized and hopeful. Together, we will continue building stronger communities where people with disabilities are empowered to thrive and lead the lives they choose.
On behalf of everyone at HIPCIL, I wish you and your loved ones a joyous holiday season filled with peace, health, and happiness, and a New Year full of opportunity and continued progress.
Thank you for being an essential part of our journey. With warm regards and gratitude,
Marily Gonzalez, CEO Heightened Independence and Progress (HIP)
