“Heightened Independence and Progress,
Center for Independent Living- hipcil
.

We provide a wide range of services for people with disabilities in the areas of advocacy, information and referral, peer support, and independent living skills training. We offer employment services, life skills training classes, and recreational activities for adults and young adults. hipcil also provides services, such as support coordination and care management under a number of state and county programs. hipcil’s comprehensive services are a critical part of the support network that enables people with disabilities residing in Bergen and Hudson counties to live independently in their communities.

hipcil is one of 11 Centers for Independent Living (CILs) in New Jersey, and one of nearly 500 CILs nationwide. All of hipcils programs and services embody the principles of the Independent Living philosophy, which asserts that people with disabilities should have the same civil rights, choices, and control as do people without disabilities. hipcil currently serves over 1,500 individuals and families in Bergen and Hudson counties. Services are funded through state and federal grants, membership contributions, donations, fundraising, and a host of agencies and foundations that have partnered with hipcil to realize equal opportunities and inclusion for people with disabilities.
